Born and raised in rural Massachusetts and currently living in Brooklyn, NY, Eliza Edens weaves together disparate influences of people and place into her work to create mesmerizing sonic tapestries with guitar and voice. With a love for tinkering with alternate tunings à la Nick Drake, a curious harmonic ear from years of childhood classical piano lessons, and an ever-expanding affinity for words and stories, Edens’ songs build a kaleidoscopic world that documents the parallels between hope and heartbreak. The resulting sound is a diverse palette of guitar-based, experimental folk-rock centered around Edens gently cradled voice and brimming at the edges with pockets of sonic whimsy. Edens released her sophomore album We’ll Become the Flowers on October 14th.
The Ferdy Mayne
The Ferdy Mayne’s latest offering comes from where Shane O’Malley Firek, songwriter, began: folk country stories about misfits, tough love and big Midwestern hearts.Unearthing a slew of unreleased tracks found on a CD buried in storage, Shane O’Malley Firek got to work with Ben Collins (Minihorse, Frontier Ruckus) to restore, remix and remaster the songs that gave The Ferdy Mayne it’s initial sound: rough edged, near-punk folk rock for raucous nights. Released over the course of winter and early spring 2023, this will mark the end for The Ferdy Mayne and a rebirth into a new musical venture for Firek, who will be heading back on the road to SXSW in Austin this year.Chase That Jackrabbit, a collection of rough and tumble Americana, will be available in March 2023.
