Featuring Barbara Payton, Carolyn Striho, Mary McGuire
Barbara Payton is a sultry, Detroit rock singer/songwriter with a soulful, bluesy voice. Recognized as one of Detroit’s most powerful and engaging live performers, Barbara Payton has rocked stages, festivals, arenas and private listening rooms for more than 25 years. In addition to her solo career, Barbara has toured as a background singer for both Bob Seger and Kid Rock.
Nominated for over fifty Detroit Music Awards in recent years, Carolyn won the Outstanding Rock Songwriter in 2016 for the second year in a row at the Detroit Music Awards in April, was again nominated for many more awards, and sang at the awards show held at Detroit’s Fillmore Theatre. Her CD “Word Attack” won the Outstanding Acoustic/Americana CD of the Year in the 2014, and “Honesty” won Outstanding CD of the Year in 2010. With five tours of Europe under her belt, she is working on yet another European tour, has a book on the way, and will be releasing another album in 2017.
As a singer/songwriter, her music merges elements of folk, rock and pop, often with poignant lyrics and complex harmonies. Her compositions have been used in films, television shows, General Motors commercials and on the celebrated slack radio show Church of the Subgenius.
“Michigan singer-songwriter and musician Mary McGuire may be one of the most underappreciated, yet most gifted artists in America today.” Joe Montague, Riveting Riffs Magazine
