Annie Sumi is an ethereal-folk artist with a unique ability to capture the subtleties of nature and spin them into melodies. Her latest release, “Solastalgia”, reflects on the permeability of landscape in the present age of the anthropocene. The album creates a soundscape that playfully explores the harsh-beauty of the Canadian wilderness. Since the release of her debut album, in 2015, she has received nominations for “New/Emerging Artist of the Year” (Canadian Folk Music Awards, 2018), “Best Singer-Songwriter” (TIMAs, 2015), “New/Emerging Artist of the Year” (Hidden Roots Collective, CFMAs, 2017), and more. With support from the Ontario Arts Council, Canada Council for the Arts, and FACTOR, she has carried these songs to stages across Canada, U.S., U.K., and central Europe. Whether she is solo, surrounded by cello and violin, or accompanied by piano, her live performance is dynamic and mesmerizing.
