Mixing the nostalgia of Motown-inspired grooves with Nashville’s songwriting sensibility, this powerhouse vocalist effortlessly weaves a sound and a story that not only stirs the soul but moves the feet. Let us introduce to you the Motor City – Music City hybrid force that is Raye Williams.
Raye has shared the stage with country acts such as Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Wynonna, and Trace Adkins…just to name a few. She’s also a regular performer on the legendary WSM 650 AM (home of the Grand Ole Opry) and consistently sells out the famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN every time she makes an appearance.
Raye partnered up with the popular ride-share app Lyft in 2018, where she was promoted to the masses as Lyft’s Spotlight Artist in Detroit. With the collaboration of Lyft, Entercom radio, MusicTown Detroit, and Tunecore, Raye made her debut with her single, “Sing Me Home” in late September 2018, garnering comparisons to that of Bonnie Raitt and Chris Stapleton stylings. Raye’s “Sing Me Home” went on to be the undefeated champion on Detroit’s 99.5 WYCD Showdown, beating out new singles from Dan + Shay, Thomas Rhett, Brett Young, and Carrie Underwood. Her victory landed Raye as the 1st ever independent artist (and Michigan artist) to be inducted into the WYCD Hall of Fame.
Raye took a unique approach then releasing her latest single, “Suicidal Heart” – unleashing both a Detroit version AND a Nashville version. The two contrasting recordings for the same song turned heads and landed her coverage everywhere from The Detroit News to Rolling Stone Country magazine. In one year’s time, Raye has reached over 160,000 social media video views and over 45,000 Spotify streams.
