Since the release of his first album Gravity in 2000, Rob Lutes has steadily built a collection of exquisite songs that inhabit the intersection of blues, folk, Americana, and the contemporary singer-songwriter genre. Lutes‘s masterful fingerstyle guitar work and soulful voice bring an unmistakable intensity to his live performances. The long-time Montreal resident is a former Kerrville New Folk and ISC award winner and a Canadian Folk Music Awards, Maple Blues and Lys Blues nominee.
He was nominated for two 2018 Maple Blues Awards, as Songwriter and Acoustic Act of the Year. His 7th album, Walk in the Dark, was released to critical acclaim in September 2017.
“The instrumentation—which includes keyboards, mandolin, violin, percussion, guitars, and harmonica—is consistently excellent, as are Lutes’s contemplative lyrics about life, love, death, and the blues.”
”Rob Lutes gave an epic performance last night at The Motley Kitchen. Masterful guitar playing, a unique voice well used, wonderful original songs sprinkled with reverent covers from the likes of Dylan, Irving Berlin, Chris Smither and Randy Newman. A night to remember.” – Scott Merrifield, The Motley Kitchen
